House Passes Budget Legislation Framework

The bill implements parts of President Trump’s agenda including tax cuts and spending on defense, energy, and the border.

The House of Representatives passed a budget plan on Thursday laying a foundation for President Donald Trump’s domestic agenda. The Senate and House will now rely on the budget reconciliation process to finalize the legislation since the upper chamber already passed the resolution. The bill had faced some opposition within the majority party for not having greater cuts to federal spending.

President Trump stated, “Congratulations to the House on the passage of a Bill that sets the stage for one of the Greatest and Most Important Signings in the History of our Country. Among many other things, it will be the Largest Tax and Regulation Cuts ever even contemplated.”

“Our ambition in the Senate is we are aligned with the House in terms of what their budget resolution outlined in terms of savings,” Senate Majority Leader Thune said. “The speaker has talked about one and a half trillion dollars. We have a lot of United States senators who believe that is a minimum.”

Representative Thomas Massie of Kentucky, who voted against the bill, stated, “The ‘big beautiful bill‘ cuts taxes while keeping spending on an increasingly unsustainable trajectory.“

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For House Speaker Johnson and Senate Majority Leader Thune as they oversee the budget reconciliation process.
  • For wisdom for President Trump and members of his Cabinet as they pursue and implement their agenda.
